There’s no prescription charge. You won’t even have to go to a chemist.

For the treatment to be effective, you MUST take all the tablets you are given. You may need to have some other tests for other STIs as well. This will be discussed with you.

How do I get treated?

If you are positive for Chlamydia one of our nurses will contact you to arrange treatment. There are a number of chemists that you can go to pick up your free pills. They will help you make an appointment with one that is convenient for you. For most people, 4 antibiotic tablets taken all in one go is all you need to treat chlamydia.

IMPORTANT - to avoid being re-infected you must:

  • Make sure that your partner is also treated
  • Not have penetrative sex (when the penis enters the vagina, mouth or anus) until you and your partner have been treated
  • Always wear a condom if you change your sexual partner
  • Each time you are re-infected with Chlamydia you increase your chances of becoming infertile
